Sungei Buloh'06
30/6
This was actually the 2nd time I went o Sungei Buloh this holiday. Crazy right, go so many times for what you say?
But it's amazing how many many things can be found in places like these...

I wouldn't mind going again and again, if not for the mosquitoes!
Anyway, I brought me camera along the first time, only to realise that it was devoid of a memory stick at Kranji MRT station. Ggrrrr... YR brought her camera along, but she claims her pictures (1) too ugly (2) too big. Fine, so she doesn't wanna share with us! The most amazing thing we saw that trip were herons. Herons. Simply beautiful. From shrieking maniacally at any colourful bird, we matured to treading carefully and talkin in whispers lest we scared the herons off.
This time, I went along with my cousin WS. The first thing we saw was a monitor lizard swimming in the huge expanse of water below the bridge. She was like "Is it a croc? Is it a croc? Oh i hope it's a croc!" And I was about to tell her that it wasn't, when a ranger cycled past and very amusedly told us "No croc here. There, there got." And he motioned for us to follow.
And so we did, and we saw this baby!

Escapee??
The ranger said it is probably an escapee from the Johor Zoo, or even our very own crocodile farm. When I tried to show this pic to my sis, she was like, "Very special meh I see so many at the crocodile farm."
Diew... Seeing a croc at Sungei Buloh beats seeing one thousand crocs at the crocodile farm can!
Both WS and I agreed that crocs are one animal species that we aren't so wild about conserving, primarily because they're just so evil-looking. In fact, they're considered so much of a nuisance that the only reason in favour of active conservation is that they're disappearing fast. Still, I'm really glad that this particular baby escaped what would be a horrible fate at the farm. Seriously, the act of rearing them just for their skin is just so much more evil!!!
Back to more light-hearted matters, Friday was Monitor Lizard Day.
They were everywhere!
This one was getting ready to go into the water

This one was waddling on the road like it owned it

Big butt
It darted off into the grass when it noticed us, cos WS was so appalled by its size she wanted to overtake it really quickly. Hahahaa... WS! It was more afraid of you than you were of it!
This one is the prettiest, cos it was right in front of me!

Pretty pose
You're probably suffering from an overdose of Lizard pictures, but I took this one just before my camera died. So it's special!

Baby
This one was so calm WS managed to tip-toe all the way behind it to pose for a picture, right BEFORE my camera died. Blame the camera!
Finally...

Guess who's been here before us?
This time round we managed to see quite a number of lobster crabs. But the pictures aint very good cos they're all too far away

Crab #1
Yea i know, it's lousy. I had a hard time figuring out what I was focusing on too.
Then we spied another...

Crab #2
This one was happily sunbathing.
This one crawled out of the hole as soon as I finished aiming my shot at the sun-loving crab.

Crab #3
WS: Wah 这么heow!知道我们在拍照就全部跑出来
Saw quite a few birds too, but they were all too far away for me to take any decent pictures
I think these are egrets. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Birdy conference
They stayed like this for at least 15min! Then they noticed our presence in the distnace and took off in a flock. Beautiful. I dint even try to take a picture. Some things can only be appreciated on the spot!
Some Random stuff...

WS pointed out these twines while we were trudging along a trail and there was nothing much we could see for awhile

Can you tell what I was trying to focus on?

This flower was droopy, I think it was the wrong time of the day.
Could somebody teach me how to capture shots of tiny stuff? I couldnt get nice shots of spiders and nameless insects cos they just look terribly blur.. There was even this dot of fluff approximately 3mm in size that WS spied climbing up a stalk. If it didn't move we'd have thought it was some dandelion... spore or something.
Hahaa...
江苏has this...

And we have this...

不过...
